Air India Airlines operates a fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft. The state-of-the-art fleet consists of Airbus A329, A320, A320NEO and A321 and Boeing 777-200LR, Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner. In 1960, the airline became the first Asian airline to induct a jet aircraft. The airline’s colour scheme is red and white with the aircraft being painted in white and palace-style carvings on the outside of the windows in red.

The airline offers three types of classes of travel and the services vary depending on the type of Air India flight booking. The different classes of travel are as follows:

Economy Class

Air India Airlines Baggage Allowance

For Domestic flights the checked-in baggage allowance for Economy class is 25 kg, Executive class is 35 kg and First class is 40 kg. For international flights, the airline follows a weight concept or a piece concept. In weight concept, the checked-in baggage allowance for Economy class is a maximum weight of 23 kg/piece and for Executive and First class is a maximum weight of 32 kg/piece. In the piece concept, the checked-in baggage for Economy class is two pieces of 23 kg each and for Executive and First class is two pieces of 32 kg each.

Currently, web check-in is unavailable for codeshare flights. The guidelines for Domestic and International Air India ticket bookings are as follows:

Check-in Air India Domestic Flights

Domestic flight passengers can web check-in using a PC/Laptop having connectivity. The web check-in is available from 48 hours to 1 hour before flight departure. Boarding passes are issued and the passengers must print them using a printer. At the airport, passengers have to contact the Baggage drop-off counter.

Check-in Air India International Flights

International flight passengers can web check-in 48 hours to 2 hours prior to the flight departure. Passengers are issued with a confirmation slip instead of a boarding pass. At the airport, passengers have to contact the Baggage drop-off counter to deposit the baggage. At the counter documents verification has to be done.

Air India Airlines in-flight Services

International flight passengers are served Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner and the Domestic flight passengers are served  Breakfast/Hi tea/Lunch/Dinner/Supper depending on the flight. Depending on the Dometic flight duration passengers are served cold snacks or hot meals. Depending on the international flight duration the passengers are served a combination of major and minor meals. Special meals can be pre-booked 48 hours prior to the flight departure.

Air India Airlines Frequent Flyer Programme:

Flying ReturnsThe airline’s frequent flyer programme ‘Flying Returns’ is one of the most rewarding programs in the region. Passengers can earn FR points while flying via the airline or the airline’s 27 alliance partners. FR points can be redeemed to earn awards. On higher fares, passengers can earn bonus points. FR points can also be earned on select non-airline partners. FR points can be purchased if passengers fall short while redeeming.
